Alice Cooper Live: Halloween Comes Early

Alice Cooper Superstar made his presence known in New Jersey when he thrilled a packed hall at the Mayo Center in Morristown. Alice’s faithful arrived in full force, and in full make-up, enjoying songs from his 30 plus year career.

For the last 10 years, that I can remember, Alice comes to NY or NJ on or around this time of the year to perform. I’m not really sure if that’s planned for some sick early Halloween ritual or just coincidence. Either way, it’s something I look forward to every year. As expected this evening, Alice showcased his extraordinary catalogue of music.

In an energetic performance that rivals bands half his age, he played a combination of songs, including classics like “Schools Out,” “Under My Wheels,” “Cold Ethel” and “Billion Dollar Babies” to relatively newer ones like “Brutal Planet,” “Hey Stupid” and “Poison.”

He even played “Bite Your Face Off” a new song from the long awaited CD Welcome 2 My Nightmare. He let the crowd know it was new, by wearing a jacket that had “New Song” stenciled on the back – he is always great for mixing promotion and theatrics.

The tour dubbed “No More Mr. Nice Guy – The Original Evil Returns” lives up to it name with no shortage of freaks and ghouls performing alongside Alice with whips, crutches, swords, a strait-jacket and a FrankenAlice resurrection. His band is tight and includes the exceptional musicianship of Jason Hook, Tommy Henriksen, Steve Hunter on guitar, Chuck Garric on bass, Glen Sobel on drums.

All in all I couldn’t think of any better way to end the summer and to get ready for Halloween than with my friend Alice.

In the next few weeks prepare yourself for the release of Alice’s new CD, Welcome 2 My Nightmare. The sequel to the 1975 mega hit LP. It will be produced by veteran rocker Bob Ezrin who produced the original and guaranteed to be hit.
