2001 was a great year for San Francisco band Train as they had a huge success with their sophomore record Drops of Jupiter. The record would end up winning two Grammy awards, including Best Rock Song for the record’s title track. Though some would argue that the track is more pop than rock, mostly due to the string arrangement and slow tempo, but then again many bands have launched their careers with ballads, “Home Sweet Home” is a great example of this phenomenon in the previous decade.
After this album’s worldwide success, and a relatively strong couple of follow up records, the band took a three-year hiatus from 2006 to 2009 to be with family and enjoy some down time. Returning in 2009 with Save Me San Francisco, the band is once again at the top of the charts with their new single “Hey Soul Sister” and is nominated for another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Song.
