Global Challenges in the Music Industry: Part II - Realignment of Stars  (April 1, 2009)

Wow…is all I can say when I look back at my last blog of November 2008. It seems that people have been concerned about major changes in the last quarter of 2008. But, I don’t think many have foreseen the magnitude of change in our world’s economy. Ripple effects have now reached everybody, both on a professional as well as on a personal level. Global Economic Challenges of the Music Industry  (November 21, 2008)

Since my last column entry for "Industry Views", Modern Guitars, the world has experienced significant change. Unless you live in a cave, you may have heard that there's a global "credit crunch." Ultimately, everyone has felt its impact. It's being called the largest "financial crisis" in modern history. I won’t go into who’s fault it is, (it wouldn’t change a damn thing either) but it’s safe to say that a few very greedy people have screwed it up for pretty much everyone else, including themselves in some cases. There is a saying, which goes, "It’s not about what happens in life, it’s about what you do when it happens." I think that sums it up, nicely. The question is, of course, is "What can we do?" Open House 2008 – Experience PRS, Part 2  (August 5, 2008)

I love summer in Maryland. I’m always amazed at how green and lush everything is, as well as how hot and humid it can be. The Chesapeake Bay, with its large body of water, provides a very Mediterranean vibe, especially around the town of Annapolis and Kent Island. Things tend do go a bit slower in summer and the locals seem to be spending more time outdoors enjoying the warm weather. Annapolis is called “The Sailing Capital of the World” and is the home of the U.S. Naval Academy. If you are into water sports and boating this is the place to be. At the moment, we at PRS are busy preparing an extremely heavy schedule for one of the largest events in our company history, Open House 2008 – Experience PRS, Part 2. On September 19 and 20, we will open our doors again to everyone who is interested in ‘experiencing PRS’ on all levels... Continue reading "Open House 2008 – Experience PRS, Part 2"

Open Arms  (May 8, 2008)

I hope you’re well and you got through the cold days fine. I can’t say that I like winter much although the changing of the seasons is kind of nice. I think I’m a spring/summer person, though. I prefer warm from cold if I have a choice. After getting a bit more into management issues and giving you my take on some business related topics, I decided to go back to talking about music. We’ve been busy writing new songs since Never Give Up was released a year ago. The album has been doing fine - we’re getting regular downloads and we’re selling a few CDs. It’s the journey, not the destination... Continue reading "Open Arms"

Karma  (February 8, 2008)

I haven’t written a Modern Guitars entry since October last year and I can’t believe it’s been a year since I came back from Anaheim, California and have written about the 2007 NAMM show. Well, another NAMM show has gone by within the blink of an eye. Continue reading "Karma"
