St. Vincent Live in Milwaukee Concert Review

On April 4th, I ventured to Milwaukee’s storied Turner Hall Ballroom to witness the live spectacle that is Annie Clark. Better known by her stage name, St. Vincent, Clark has just released her fourth studio album, St. Vincent, to critical acclaim. Armed with high expectations and a more than adequate knowledge of her catalog, I made myself comfortable about three rows from the stage. The band entered the stage and immediately laid down the groove in the darkness, before a light eventually reveals the Matriarch of the evening, Miss Annie Clark.

2013 has been one of celebration for Milton Nascimento. Besides celebrating his 71st birthday on 26 October, Milton has been commemorating his 50-year career as a musician that began with the EP Barulho de Trem recorded in Belo Horizonte in 1963. If the London installment of Milton’s tour 50 Anos de Carreira—Uma Travessia [50-Year Career—A Traverse] is any indication of his vibrancy, then I expect to see many more commemorations to come.

Back in the ‘80s, when the New Wave of British Heavy Metal was a musical force not to be reckoned with; you would be taking your life in your hands walking down 42nd Street, as it was lined with head shops, porn theaters, and drug dealers.
