C. F. Martin & Co. has a long history of building high quality artist model acoustic guitars, and they are continuing the tradition with the new D-28M The Mamas and The Papas Custom Artist Edition. The D-28M pays homage to the songwriting, musicianship and vocal harmony of The Mamas and The Papas and is inspired by the vintage Martin D-28 that backed up their many Top 40 hits, like “Monday, Monday” and “California Dreamin’.” To keep it a very special release, Martin is only making one hundred. Acepro Guitars and Dark Diamond Digital Media are releasing a benefit CD honoring America’s veterans, entitled Never Forgotten, nationally on November 11th, Veterans Day. The album is a collective host of independent artists who have donated a song to honor America’s fallen heroes. Produced by Brian Crabb, the CD is now available digitally iTunes, Zune, Amazon.com and at this location. Traditional brick and mortar stores will have the CD stocked on Friday, November 11th.

The two musical instrument mainstays are pleased to announce that Rudy’s will host the New York version of Experience PRS at its new Soho location on November 17-18 (Thurs and Fri). Rudy’s will transform into a guitar enthusiast’s promised land from 11am to 10pm EST each day. Founder Paul Reed Smith, PRS Amp Designer Doug Sewell, some PRS endorsing artists and PRS gearheads will be on site to perform, demo PRS products, answer any and all questions, and give tips for easy repair and setup of PRS guitars.

The 43rd Annual Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival is set to kick off this coming Sunday, October 16th and will run all the way until Thursday, December 1st, 2011. The month-and-a-half long celebration will feature performances by many great artists, including Maria Schneider Orchestra, Rudresh Mahanthappa Samdhi, Vijay Iyer Trio, Pat Metheny with Larry Grenadier and Bill Stewart, Eliane Elias Brazilian Quartet, bassist Dave Holland with Flamenco guitar legend Pepe Habichuela, Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau, Randy Weston and his African Rhythms Trio, Madeleine Peyroux, Michel Camilo ‘Mano a Mano’ with Giovanni Hidalgo and Charles Flores, Buena Vista Social Club with Omara Portuondo, Michael Janisch-Aruan Ortiz Quintet with Greg Osby and Raynald Colom, and Ken Vandermark’s Made to Break.
