It’s quite rare to hear someone say, “Screw it, kid. Don’t follow your dreams, make a lot of money!” Most career advice given to recent high school graduates and college students usually focuses on doing what you love, following your heart, and money that the whole money/financial security thing will figure itself out.

Rock supergroup Chickenfoot has released another teaser sample of a song from their upcoming album, which you can check out below. The band, which just signed an exclusive deal with eOne Music for North American marketing and distribution, will be releasing their second album, oddly entitled Chickenfoot III on September 27th.

Filmmaker Timothy Ro has released a new short film entitled The Conversationalist, with Guitar International’s Dr. Matthew Warnock contributing the score. According to MattWarnockGuitar.com, Timothy Ro contacted him after the piece was filmed about recording the score. “He wanted a jazzy feel to the music, kind of Ed Bickert meets Gene Bertoncini, I immediately agreed to do the project.”

Jam sessions can be a guitarists best friend or their worst nightmare. I’m sure many of have stories of nights when a big-name musician was traveling through town and decided to sit in with us at the corner bar, making for an unforgettable night of music. But, there are also those jam sessions where the participants have spent too much time with a bottle of scotch or not enough time in the practice room, or both, and their 12 minute version of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” almost made us want to quit music.

Speed metal titans Dethklok have announced that this Saturday, July 9th, they will fly their monster helicopters to San Bernardino, CA’s edition of Mayhem Festival, likely killing thousands of crazed fans when they land on the parking lots.

San Francisco thrash metal icons Testament are currently in the throes of recording their new record, according to updates from the band. With only the drum tracks to go on, guitarist Eric Peterson is already excited. “Drum tracks completed on 4 songs. It’s gonna be the fastest and most outta control drum record we’ve done. Visual clips coming soon!”

New Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini is very confident in his position as Mike Portnoy’s replacement.
