Guitar Masterclass with Richie Sambora, Tommy Emmanuel and Laurence Juber

George Dassinger Creative offered up to us that The Women And Cancer Fund was established in the memory of Linda McCartney and in the last four months it has had two varied, yet distinctive fundraising events: (1) Let Us In Nashville – the CD and live concert at the Ryman Auditorium – November 7, 2011 and (2) Guitar Master Class featuring Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel and former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber. Both live events brought new life and charitable benefits to The Women And Cancer Fund. The latter, the Guitar Master Class took place Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the home of industry record promoter Steve Resnick – Shadow Hills, California – where approximately over 50 attendees experienced an acoustic performance like no other.

The mid-afternoon living room performance was spontaneous and open to audience questions. The select group watched and listened as Richie, Tommy and Laurence performed solo and in trio-fashion Lennon-McCartney and Beatles classics like: “My Love Don’t Give Me Presents”, “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Michelle”, “I Am The Walrus”, “Day Tripper”, “Drive My Car” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. Also intermixed in the trio’s extended two hour performance was: Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and “Dead Or Alive” featuring Richie Sambora, Tommy Emmanuel’s instrumental “Hope Street” and Laurence Juber’s “Cobalt Blue”. The performance was filmed in high definition.

One audience member asked if the three of them could be joined by anyone who would it be. All three nodded their head saying “Linda McCartney” and Laurence Juber added, “I would have liked to have had Les Paul here too”. Both Richie and Tommy echoed Laurence’s wish – three guitars, three musicians/composers and one special afternoon. Sitting in the audience were Eric Idle (Monty Python fame) and Joshua Scott Jones (Steel Magnolia fame)

The Women And Cancer Fund is based near Phoenix, AZ. and was founded by Dr. Alicia Alvarez (thewomenandcancerfund.org). The charity works in tandem with the New Jersey-based Reviver Music (revivermusic.com) and its Executive Producers David Ross and Dennis D’Amico. The Guitar Master Class raised thousands of dollars for The Women And Cancer Fund from the February 18th living room concert and although it was a first, other “Master Classes” are being planned.
