Experience PRS, Paul Reed Smith Guitars‘ own trade event, is one of the music industry’s largest single-manufacturer trade show, and PRS uses it to introduce their new products and limited edition models to a marketplace hungry for value and innovation. This year, Paul and company have updated the NF3 and DC3 models with another inlay option and are introducing three limited-run US-made electric guitars (images of all five are viewable below).

PRS has become known for their signature fretboard inlays of birds in flight, so it only made sense to add them as an option to the NF3 and DC3, both of which have emerged as two of PRS’s most popular models since their introduction in September 2010 at last year’s Experience PRS. Both the DC3 and NF3 are versatile guitars, combining rich tone, classic looks and smooth playability with a 5-way pickup selector, V12 finish, and korina and alder wood choice combinations. The new bird inlays will help guitarists stand out while they sound great playing through PRS-designed pickups that come stock with each NF3 and DC3, the 57/08 Narrowfield and DC3 Singlecoil.

The three new electric limited edition models Paul Reed Smith is introducing to dealers, the press and the public are the Stripped 58, the Swamp Ash Studio, and the Experience 2011 Custom 24. The Stripped 58 is the most straightforward of the three with a single cutaway, a 24.5” scale length, 22 frets on its mahogany neck, 2-piece bridge, “Pattern” neck profile and bird inlays on its rosewood fretboard. The 58 produces a classic tone, ready to record or play live, pumped out with the help of 57/08 pickups.

The Swamp Ash Studio updates the standard of PRS’s high quality single-single-humbucker guitars, the Studio model, with PRS’s 57/07 Narrowfield pickups in the neck and middle positions and a 57/08 humbucker in the bridge position combining with a 5-way switch. Another change is the use of swamp ash for the body of the guitar, which reaches for a clear high end, balanced mids and a strong bass response. The Swamp Ash Studio and the Stripped 58 are limited-run instruments, but not in the sense that they only made a certain amount. They will make as many as needed, but are only taking orders for them until October 14th!

The Experience 2011 Custom 24, however, is actually limited to a run of 200 guitars across the world. This beauty of an axe features custom-etched covered 59/09 pickups, the brand new 5-way blade pickup selector. Coming in four creatively-named colors (Orange Tiger, Burnt Almond, Gold Burst and Faded Abalone), this Custom 24 comes with an artist grade top and matching veneer on the headstock, white and black mother of pearl inlays, original tremolo cavity carve and an artist case to keep it safe and sound. Following the tradition of PRS’s Experience limited-edition guitars, the Experience 2011 Custom 24 features an eagle on the headstock that has been updated to match the new PRS bird inlays for 2011.

Look out for these striking guitars at PRS dealers across the globe, and maybe you will be lucky enough to pick one up before their limited numbers run out!
