Michael “Mic” (pronounced ‘Mike’) Todd, the bassist of prog rockers Coheed and Cambria, has been arrested for armed robbery of a Walgreens in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

According to Yahoo! News, the bassist allegedly went into the Walgreens, showed the person at the counter a note on his cellphone that said he had a bomb and would set it off if he didn’t receive certain prescription drugs. He left the scene in a cab with six bottles of Oxycontin, and was dropped off at the band’s tour bus at the Comcast Center in Mansfield.

The police were able to track him down by using eyewitness accounts of the cab used in the getaway and surveillance photographs from the robbery in Walgreens. Todd was arrested at the Comcast Center, just hours before Coheed and Cambria were to open for Soundgarden. The band still played, however, with Wes Styles, who has been their touring keyboardist since 2007, filling in on bass.

Todd initially denied any involvement in the incident, but changed his mind once confronted with the surveillance material that clearly showed him as the robber.

At a bail hearing on Monday, Judge Daniel O’Shea increased the bassist’s bail from $10k to $25k or $250k surety because of Todd’s criminal history, which includes a drug conviction and a reckless driving arrest, and his out-of-state address.

Todd’s lawyer, Sandra Ferreira, says that she does not believe that the charge of armed robbery will stick, because no weapon was shown during the robbery and none were found once the arrest was made. No further comment is available, as Ferreira has not returned phone calls from the Associated Press.

The other members of Coheed and Cambria will continue on their tour, and no shows will be canceled or post-poned, according to a statement by the band. They also said that they consider the charges to be very serious and will discuss the matter with Michael Todd after the tour is over.

Todd’s next court date is August 9th.
