Metal legends Slayer are set to release a new/old live DVD this summer. While Dead Skin Mask is a new release, the performance occurred almost a ten years ago, in 2002 at the Hultsfred Festival in metal-heavy Sweden. According to BraveWords.com, the DVD is due out on June 21st from Rock Tapes/IDS/Fontana Distribution.
Oddly enough, the Slayer song for which the DVD is named, “Dead Skin Mask” (from their 1990 studio relase Seasons in the Abyss), wasn’t actually performed at the Hultsfred Festival. Fans need not worry, though, as most of the classics made it on the DVD. Slayer certainly wouldn’t leave off “Raining Blood” and “Angel of Death.”
When Dead Skin Mask hits shelves, Slayer will be firmly entrenched in a South American tour, followed up by trips to Europe and back to North America later in the summer. The Europe shows, along with a September NYC visit to Yankee Stadium, will be with “The Big Four”: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer.
